Pantry Lantern Jar Cover: Macramé Pattern (PDF)

Turn ordinary canning jars into soft, glowing lanterns, pen pots and vases. The Pantry Lantern Jar Cover is a fitted macramé sleeve knotted right on the jar. It has a neat band under the neck, an open square-knot net, a double-row zigzag hem and a full, combed fringe, plus an optional wrapped collar to finish the neck.

The pattern is written for three standard Bernardin regular-mouth jars, and it shows you how to size it to almost any jar you have.

You'll need

• 2 mm cotton macramé cord, single-strand or 3-ply (about 19 to 40 yd, depending on size)
• A glass canning jar
• Scissors, a soft tape measure, a comb or pet brush, and clear-drying fabric glue
• Masking tape, a clipboard or pins to hold cords while you work
